FELIX RUNS FOR MARY’S MEALS

During gait training an idea was born in Felix’s mind:
„It is my mission to collect donations, to provide at least 500 children in Turkana, Kenya with a daily meal for one school year. Although I am not able to set a distance goal, I do my best! I will try to run as much as possible,“ says Felix.

In October 2016, everything fell apart for Felix: Following a diving accident, he ended up in a coma. He had a small chance to survive and his doctors expected a massive damage to his brain. Despite this devastating incident, Felix woke up from his coma and only after a few weeks started speaking again, shortly before Christmas.

Instead of completing his master’s degree and continuing with his promising career as a business consultant, he has to relearn the most basic physical functions, prepare for a completely new way of life and cope with his daily routine. After 15 months of highly intensive rehabilitation in Heidelberg, Germany, he moved back to his parents’ home in Frankfurt, from the beginning of 2018.

Even prior to his accident, Felix supported Mary’s Meals. His changed personal circumstances don’t stop him from continuing to volunteer for this project – despite a demanding everyday life and his almost daily treatments and trainings:

“Training with lyra is very demanding for me. With the help of leg orthoses and a special belt, that keeps me in an upright position, I start to take a few steps. Ok, actually, the machine also takes the

steps with me. It may sound ridiculous, but I manage 2.7 km/h – for me and the machine this is already quite fast.”

During his gait training, another idea was born in Felix’s brain: „It is my goal to collect donations so as to provide at least 500 children in Turkana, Kenya, with a daily meal, for one school year. Although I am not able to set a distance goal, I do my best! I will try to run as much as possible,“ says Felix.

We love to support Felix‘ campaign!
