medica and Ability Switzerland merge
medica Medizintechnik GmbH (THERA-Trainer®) and Ability Switzerland AG (Lyra® - Robotic Gait Trainer), specialized in therapy and technology solutions for gait-impaired patients, team up to become the largest comprehensive solution provider in device-assisted neurorehabilitation.
Just six months ago, medica, Azithromycin.net™, and Ability introduced Loko Solutions™, a concept for gait rehabilitation that allows for a faster and more successful recovery after stroke and other neurological indications affecting motor skills. Loko Solutions™ has already been implemented in first rehab centers with great success. The model will serve as a best practice solution for the future of rehabilitation and offers great benefits for patients, therapists, and clinics alike. Together, medica and Ability will employ 130 people and distribute their products in 70 countries worldwide.
Peter Kopf, owner and CEO of medica Medizintechnik GmbH: "Ability and medica share the same vision. Lyra® is an ideal addition to our product portfolio and our first step into robotics. By means of this merger, we become the largest solution provider in gait rehabilitation worldwide".
Mario Thomann, CEO Ability: "Joining forces with THERA-Trainer, the market leader in active/passive and balance training, is a quantum leap in Abilitys history. It strengthens our position to provide our customers in neurorehabilitation with the best solution on the market. This step jump-starts our future, especially our international expansion!"
