Get up, stand up.

Balance training has never been easier and more versatile.

Static and dynamic balance in standing and walking are based on complex neuronal and muscular activities. These activities can only be successfully achieved through task-oriented training at the individual’s performance limit.

The patented dynamic balance trainer balo also enables people with lack of trunk control to improve core stability and active weight shifting.

Questions?

What is the THERA-Trainer balo?

The THERA-Trainer balo is a unique standing frame, because it has a patented balance unit that allows not only static standing, but also dynamic standing with weight shifting. Due to its special design, the THERA-Trainer balo allows even patients who are unable to stand in the early phase of rehabilitation to receive targeted training in postoral control and balance in a fall-safe environment.

How much does a THERA-Trainer balo cost?

Depending on the configuration and required accessories, the costs for a THERA-Trainer balo can vary. We will gladly advise you to find out which configuration you need and make you an individual offer. For training at home, in some countries, the tigo is reimbursed by health insurance companies. We’re also looking forward to advise you individually on this. As an alternative to purchasing, we also offer attractive rental and leasing models for our equipment.

Which configuration of the THERA-Trainer balo is right for me?

This depends very much on the area of application and the patient clientele. Get in touch with us! Our clinical application specialists and product consultants have a lot of experience and can define the right setup with you based on your requirements.

In which settings the THERA-Trainer balo can be used?

The THERA-Trainer balo is especially used in the following settings:

  • Hospitals (Acute & Intensive care)
  • Stroke units
  • Inpatient rehabilitation clinics
  • Outpatient rehabilitation centers
  • MS centers
  • Long term care facilities
  • Elderly care homes
  • Gyms
  • And of course, Home care.

For which clinical conditions, indications is the THERA-Trainer balo suitable?

The THERA-Trainer balo is used by patients with the following clinical conditions and indications:

  • Stroke (apoplexy, hemiplegia, cerebral haemorrhage)
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Paraplegia (paraplegia, tetraplegia)
  • Muscle diseases (muscular dystrophy, muscular atrophy)
  • Craniocerebral injuries
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Apallic syndrome (coma vigil, aphasia)
  • Infantile cerebral palsy
  • Polio syndrome

  • Polyneuropathy (e.g. due to canal spinal stenosis)
  • Rheumatism, arthrosis, arthritis
  • Knee and hip TEP
  • and for many other clinical pictures with movement restrictions.

What is the minimum activity level for training with the THERA-Trainer balo?

Patients must at least be mobilised out of bed. However, they do not have to be able to stand independently. They should be able to sit for prolonged periods without significant circulatory decline. Mobilisation to standing position can be performed without effort with the assistance of an electrical lift-up system. The patient is secured against falls by a belt during the entire standing process. However, an indication for training should always first be determined by the physician or therapist and subsequently accompanied.

What are the benefits for patients from exercising with the balo?

THERA-Trainer balo is a device specially designed for balance and pre-gait rehabilitation. It is often used in physiotherapy treatment to improve patients’ balance and stability. Here are some typical therapy goals that are pursued with the THERA-Trainer balo:

Increasing stability: By training on the The THERA-Trainer balo, patients can strengthen their trunk muscles and the muscles in their lower extremities. This helps improve stability and helps increase control over the body during movements.

Improving postural control and balance ability: The THERA-Trainer balo aims to improve patients’ balance. Through specific training on the device, patients can learn to better control their balance and increase their stability. This can help prevent falls and regain confidence in their balance.

Pre-Gait rehabilitation: The The THERA-Trainer balo can also be used to improve patients’ ability to walk. By training on the device, gait patterns can be practiced and coordination of the legs and trunk can be improved. This can be particularly helpful for patients with neurological conditions or after injury.

Fall prevention: An important therapy goal with the The THERA-Trainer balo is fall prevention. By training on the device, patients can learn to better maintain their balance and improve their responsiveness. This can help reduce the risk of falls and increase confidence in one’s balance.

Improving functional mobility: The The THERA-Trainer balo aims to improve patients’ functional mobility. This includes the ability to perform everyday activities safely and independently, such as standing, walking and negotiating obstacles.

It is important to note that therapy goals should be individualised to each patient’s needs and abilities. The exact goals are set in consultation with the treating therapist to ensure targeted and effective rehabilitation.

How does the balo differ from the other THERA-Trainer Standing & Balancing products?

THERA-Trainer balo is by far the device in the Standing & Balancing product line, that can be used most widely. Thanks to the electric lift-up system, patients who are unable to stand can be mobilised easily and safely – even from the edge of the bed or from a wheelchair. At the same time, the THERA-Trainer balo offers all possibilities for dynamic training of postural control and balance while standing – thanks to the patented balance unit. In comparison, the THERA-Trainer verto is a purely static standing trainer and the THERA-Trainer coro is more suited for patients who can already stand with assistance but need a fall-safe environment for training.

How is the THERA-Trainer balo different from other standing frames on the market?

The special feature of the THERA-Trainer balo is the patented balance unit. Most standing frames on the market only allow static verticalisation in a rigid standing frame. The THERA-Trainer balo, on the other hand, can move 360 degrees in all directions by shifting weight, thus enabling a targeted movement of the body’s center of gravity above the support surface. During therapy, the patient can move in a safe environment at all times and is secured against falls.

How THERA-Trainer balo fits into the THERA-Trainer complete solution concept?

The THERA-Trainer balo can be a valuable component of a THERA-Trainer complete solution in many clinical and non-clinical settings and can be excellently combined with other products from the Standing & Balancing line, as well as with products of our Cycling and Gait line. But they can also be used in combination with other existing equipment or equipment from a different manufacturer. Depending on the specific use case, this may even make sense. The THERA-Trainer has been a faithful piece of training equipment from the start of my wheelchair career. My first encounter with it was in hospital. I then had it prescribed so that I could also train at home.

Dr. Hermann Moser, MSc.
Medical Director Therapy Center Gmundnerberg

We are delighted to be one of the first facilities in Austria providing therapy with the lyra. The implementation of end effector robotics is an important step in the overall care of our patients and enables state-of-the-art gait rehabilitation.

Klaus Hergert
Patient with spinal muscular atrophy

1208954

I found using the THERA-Trainer to be an excellent addition to my physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions and so I decided to buy one for home use so that I could practise regularly from home alongside my necessary therapies.

Robert el Fahem- Krummradt
Therapeutic director at Passauer Wolf Bad Gögging

1208678

The lyra provides a very sporty workout. We used to manage 30 steps a day per patient on the treadmill with two physiotherapists. With the walking robot, people walk 1,000 steps a day. And at up to 4 km/h. So they also learn ambitious walking, for example to get through traffic lights quickly.

Liesel Schmidt
Patients with neuromuscular disease

I opted for the THERA-Trainer because, above all, it has a secure stand, is easy to use and doesn’t take up too much space.
