The lyra provides a very sporty workout. We used to manage 30 steps a day per patient on the treadmill with two physiotherapists. With the walking robot, people walk 1,000 steps a day. And at up to 4 km/h. So they also learn ambitious walking, for example to get through traffic lights quickly.

The device-supported gait laboratory at the Aatal Clinic Wünnenberg provides patients with brain damage with an effective measure of evidence-based gait rehabilitation. A treatment algorithm synthesizes suitable training programs; participants are categorized according to assessment and train in small groups in a goal-oriented manner.

I opted for the THERA-Trainer because, above all, it has a secure stand, is easy to use and doesn’t take up too much space.

Patients are highly motivated to train at their performance limits, incorporating all core elements of motor learning. We utilise this in individual and group settings, as well as in circuit training.
