Be active.

In almost all phases of rehabilitation with the tigo cycling program.

Many medical conditions or age-related changes are often accompanied by a progressive loss of strength, stamina and mobility. Regular exercise is known to be extremely important in this context. The more activity and intensity, the better.

The tigo uniquely enables patients and therapists to facilitate functional recovery and improves motor skills in the lower extremities and upper body – from the comfort of a chair or wheelchair.

Questions?

What is the THERA-Trainer tigo?

The THERA-Trainer tigo is a motor-driven movement trainer (stationary e-bike), suitable for active, assistive and passive training for the relief/treatment of mild to severe impairments of the movement-related functions. Patients can train both, legs or upper body. The medical device can be used in almost all phases of rehabilitation. From the clinic to training at home. It’s safe, easy to use, effective and affordable.

How much does a THERA-Trainer tigo cost?

Depending on the configuration and required accessories, the costs for a THERA-Trainer tigo can vary. We will gladly advise you to find out which configuration you need and make you an individual offer. For training at home, in some countries, the tigo is reimbursed by health insurance companies. We’re also looking forward to advise you individually on this. As an alternative to purchasing, we also offer attractive rental and leasing models for our equipment.

Which configuration of the THERA-Trainer tigo is right for me?

This depends very much on the area of application and the patient conditions. Get in touch with us! Our clinical application specialists and product consultants have a lot of experience and can define the right setup with you based on your requirements.

In which settings the THERA-Trainer tigo can be used?

The THERA-Trainer tigo is especially used in the following settings:

  • Hospitals (Acute & Intensive care)
  • Stroke units
  • Inpatient rehabilitation clinics
  • Outpatient rehabilitation centers
  • MS centers
  • Long term care facilities
  • Elderly care homes
  • Gyms
  • And of course, Home care.

For which clinical conditions, indications is the THERA-Trainer tigo suitable?

The THERA-Trainer tigo is intended for mild to severe impairments of the movement-related functions. Patients exercising with tigo often have, for example, the following clinical conditions and indications:

  • Stroke (apoplexy, hemiplegia, cerebral haemorrhage)
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Paraplegia (paraplegia, tetraplegia)
  • Muscle diseases (muscular dystrophy, muscular atrophy)
  • Craniocerebral injuries
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Apallic syndrome (coma vigil, aphasia)
  • Infantile cerebral palsy
  • Polio syndrome
  • Guillain Barré Syndrome (GBS)
  • Polyneuropathy (e.g. due to canal spinal stenosis)
  • Rheumatism, arthrosis, arthritis
  • Knee and hip TEP
  • and for many other clinical pictures with movement restrictions.

What is the minimum activity level for training with the THERA-Trainer tigo?

For safe and feasible training with the THERA-Trainer tigo, patients must at least be mobilized into a wheelchair. An indication for training should always first be determined by the physician or therapist and subsequently accompanied. For less mobile patients or persons with a very low activity level, THERA-Trainer bemo for in-bed training might be more suitable.

What therapy goals are usually pursued with the THERA-Trainer tigo?

The therapy goals that are usually pursued with the THERA-Trainer tigo can vary depending on the individual needs and abilities of the patient. However, here are some typical therapy goals that are targeted with the THERA-Trainer tigo:

Improving mobility: The THERA-Trainer tigo can be used to improve patients’ ability to move. This includes strengthening muscles, improving joint mobility, and promoting coordination and balance.

Restoring motor function: Following a stroke, spinal cord injury or other neurological conditions, THERA-Trainer tigo can be used to restore motor skills. This may include the ability to perform certain movements, such as reaching for objects or walking.

Increasing endurance: The THERA-Trainer tigo can be used to improve patients’ cardiovascular fitness and endurance. Targeted training on the device can improve physical performance and increase resilience.

Increasing strength: The THERA-Trainer tigo can also be used for resistance training to improve patients’ muscle strength.

Regulation of muscle tone and pain management: For patients with spasticity and pain, the THERA-Trainer tigo can be used to provide exercise therapy that can help to relieve. Controlled movements and targeted training can relax muscles and reduce pain.

Promoting independence in everyday life: An important therapy goal with the THERA-Trainer tigo is to promote independence and autonomy in everyday life. This can include improving the ability to get around independently, perform daily activities such as dressing or cooking, and improving overall quality of life.

However, it is important to note that therapy goals are tailored to the individual patient and should be determined in consultation with the treating therapist.

How does the tigo differ from the other THERA-Trainer Cycling products?

The THERA-Trainer tigo is the ultimate workhorse for training in the clinical setting, in the care setting and for training at home. The tigo can be used to exercise exclusively in a seated position. This is the main difference to the THERA-Trainer bemo, which is specifically designed for training in a lying or semi-lying position. Compared to the THERA-Trainer mobi, the particularly light, compact trainer in the Cycling product line, the tigo is more powerful and can be more individually configured.

How is the THERA-Trainer tigo different from other Cycling products on the market?

The THERA-Trainer tigo is a powerful, high-quality and safe medical device. This distinguishes the trainer from many low-cost alternatives available on the market. In addition, the tigo has specific biofeedback-controlled training programs and, in combination with the THERA-soft, can even be combined with exergames in virtual worlds. And the best part? tigo is very easy to use. Setup takes less than a minute and passive, assistive or active training can begin immediately – A difference that is noticeable in daily routine.

How does THERA-Trainer tigo fit into the THERA-Trainer complete solution concept?

The THERA-Trainer tigo can be a valuable component of a THERA-Trainer complete solution in many clinical and non-clinical settings. Training with tigo can be excellently combined with other products from the Cycling line, as well as with products of our Standing & Balancing and Gait line. Explore our Professional Focus Areas to get a better understanding of our Complete Solutions for the lower levels of rehabilitation.

PD Dr. Christian Dohle
Head Physician of the P.A.N. Center, Head of Research, Fürst Donnersmarck-Stiftung zu Berlin

Robot-assisted training has been a domain of gait rehabilitation for some time. It has to be said: the technology has no value in itself for rehabilitation. But for therapists and patients, it would be much more costly to achieve the same result with conventional therapy.
